Website case study
Kurt April Website Case Study
kurtapril.comThe client and the brief
Kurt April’s website is an artist portfolio project in the Strydes body of work. The recorded brief centres on a polished digital presence: give visitors an immediate sense of the artist and make the next step easy to find. The site needed a considered presentation rather than a collection of disconnected links that left visitors to work out where to go.
For an artist, a website can be the page someone opens after receiving a recommendation. It has to introduce the person clearly even when the visitor has not seen their social channels. This project uses that first encounter as the starting point, bringing the presentation and enquiry route into one coherent experience.
The challenge: make a first visit useful
A strong image can attract attention, but a visitor also needs to understand what they are looking at and how to engage. The design challenge was to balance that visual impression with clear navigation. Artist sites often carry different kinds of information; keeping the hierarchy readable helps a new visitor decide where to begin.
The project record describes an emphasis on credibility and professional bookings. Those are design objectives, not measured claims about the number of enquiries received. We have not published a conversion comparison or booking increase for this project. The useful question is whether the site gives the artist a clear, professional destination to share.
What Strydes built
Strydes created a polished artist presence with a focused path to enquiry. The presentation gives the work room while keeping the experience straightforward to navigate. The project artwork shown here belongs to that artist presentation; it is not a generic workplace photograph or a mock testimonial.
The key features documented for this project are the artist portfolio, a professional brand presentation and clear access to enquiries. Those features work together: the portfolio establishes context, the presentation gives it consistency and the contact route gives interested visitors somewhere to act. A clear next step matters as much as a visually strong introduction.
A considered route for visitors
Someone visiting from a shared link may arrive with very little background. The site needs to orient them quickly, then allow them to explore at their own pace. Keeping the enquiry route accessible means a visitor who already knows enough can proceed without having to work through every page first.
That principle is useful beyond this one project. Your content should answer the questions a booker actually has, and the design should help them locate those answers. Decorative elements can support the mood, but they should not become a barrier between the artist introduction and the contact details.
Outcome and what is visible
The delivered outcome is a dedicated artist portfolio and professional enquiry destination. It gives Kurt April a website that can be shared independently of a particular social post. The case study describes the visible structure and the purpose of the work; it does not claim that the website alone produces bookings or industry recognition.
Visit the live site to review the current experience. Websites can change after a case study is written, so the live presentation may evolve as the artist’s needs change. The project image remains an example of the visual work, while the description stays within the features supported by the project record.
Planning a similar website
Start by listing what a booker needs to understand about your work and what you need to know before replying. Include the pages you already have, the music or media you want to share and any parts of the process that currently involve repeated messages. You can send those details later if you only have a rough idea today.
Strydes packages start at R2,500 for Starter Presence, R7,000 for a Professional Site and R12,000 for an Automation System. Growth & Protection starts at R1,500/month, with a three-month minimum only if you choose that plan. The package linked below is a suggested starting point for a conversation, not a disclosure of what this client paid. Your proposal confirms the actual scope and cost.
